Day One: Chamonix to Les Contamines

10.6 miles, elevation gain/loss 6,066 feet, 6-7 hours

We will take a bus from Chamonix  to Les Houches to start our journey. We hike from Les Houches to Les Contamines via Col de Voza, with great views of the Chamonix Valley. We will overnight at Hotel Plan B with half board. There is an option to take a chair lift from Les Houches to Col de Voza which will reduce the total hike time by 2 hours.

Day Two: Les Contamines to Les Chapieux

12.4 miles, elevation gain/loss 7,585 feet, ~6-7 hours

We hike over the pass Col de la Croix du Bonhomme, en route to Les Chapieux, a tiny mountain hamlet with a smattering of houses, farms and lots of farm animals. We will stay at the Hotel Le Chemenaz with half board. There is an option to shave off an hour of this stage from by taking a bus ride from Les Contamines to Notre Dame de la Gorge.

Day Three: Les Chapieux to Courmayeur

10.5 miles, elevation gain/loss 4,993 feet, 6-7 hours

Day three we cross the international border of France and Italy at Col de la Seigne, ending the day in Courmayeur by way of La Visaille. We take a break in Courmayeur, giving our bodies an extra day of rest and relaxation in this picturesque Italian village. We will stay at the Auberge de la Nova with breakfast included. Dinner will be on our own but we will organize a group dinner in town or give you a meal stipend.

Day Four: Rest day in Courmayeur

No mileage unless you wish to ramble around

We will spend one full day in Courmayeur, Italy to give your bodies time to rest. Courmayeur is a Italian ski resort town with numerous shops and a plethora of restaurants. If you do not want to hike the several trails leading to gorgeous alpine lakes and vistas, relax at the hotel's spa, get a massage, or take a stroll to the local Saussure Botanical Gardens. We will stay at the Le Massif Hotel with breakfast included. Dinner will be on our own but we will organize a group dinner in town or give you a meal stipend.

Day Five: Courmayeur to La Fouly

8.5 miles, elevation gain/loss 6,040 feet, 5-6 hours

After a transfer to Val Ferret, on day five we hike into Switzerland via the Grand Col Ferret, and overnight in the small hamlet of La Fouly. We will stay overnight at Hotel Edelweiss with half board.

Day Six: La Fouly to Champex

8.8 miles, elevation gain/loss 3,540 feet, 5-6 hours

Day six we continue our journey through pastoral Switzerland and end the day in Champex, near a small mountain lake. Today we will stay overnight at the Hotel Splendide with half board.

Day Seven: Champex to Trient

10.1 miles, elevation gain/loss 5,450 feet, 6-7 hours

Day seven is up and over Alp Bovine, before coming to rest in Trient, where a pink church adds a colorful hue to this small town. Our last night on the TMB will be spent at the Hotel Grande Ourse with half board.

Day Eight: Trient to Chamonix

10.2 miles, elevation gain/loss 8,002 feet, 7-8 hours

Finally we cross back over the border into France, passing over Col de Balme on our way down to Argentière, and transfer to Chamonix for our final night in France. A chairlift from Col de Balme to Le Tour will reduce the total hike by 2 hours then it is a short hike Argentiere to catch a short bus ride to ChamonixWe will stay again at the Plan B Hotel.
