Hiking Day 1: Les Houches to Les Contamines
We will take a bus from Chamonix to Les Houches to start our journey. We hike from Les Houches to Les Contamines via Col de Voza, with great views of the Chamonix Valley. There is an option to take a chair lift from Les Houches to Col de Voza which will reduce the total hike time by 2 hours. 10.6 miles, elevation gain/loss 6,066 feet, 6 - 8.5 hours
Les Contamines
The original name of the village, Les Contamines, derives from "contamines," an ancient term in the local dialect signifying arable land within the squire's estate. Comprising scattered hamlets, the village is home to around 1,200 permanent residents and still exudes its authentic charm, featuring preserved old farmhouses, traditional chalets, quaint residences, and rich alpine heritage. Moreover, it stands as the highest nature reserve in France, serving as the sole protected area within the Mont-Blanc range.

Double Room
La Chemenaz has 27 double rooms, each from 20 square meter surface area. Spacious and with natural light, they benefit from large windows. Decorated with wood and fur, the rooms offer a cosy restful atmosphere.
For your comfort, our rooms are equipped with WI-FI, satellite T.V, a safe and private balcony. Each room can be set up as a double or a twin room. Depending on your needs, we also have the possibility of adding an extra bed in the room. In the separate bathroom, you will find a bath or a shower, a hair dryer and a heated towel rail.
FAMILY ROOM
Specifically designed for a stay with your children, the Chalet Hotel la Chemenaz’s has 9 cosy family rooms. From 25 square meter surface, they are furnished with a double or twin bed and bunk beds, the latter being in a separate section of the room.
Welcomed and decorated with wood, our family rooms also benefit from a large window which lets through an abundance of natural light. Each room is equipped with WI-FI, satellite T.V, a safe and private balcony. In the separate bathroom, there is a bath or a shower, a hair dryer and a heated towel rail.
