July 31-august 3

We will travel from Chamonix to Zermatt by private taxi. Zermatt is the end location for the famous (or infamous) Haute Route, the 137 mile trek from Chamonix. Zermatt is also home to the Matterhorn, one of the most iconic mountains in the world. Zermatt does not allow gas or hybrid cars to enter the city, so the taxi will take us to the edge of town and we will be picked up by the hotel's electric vehicles. We will spend three nights in Zermatt, and offer an optional day hike the middle day to either the Five Lakes or Gornergrat to Riffelalp. Both day hikes have amazing views of the Matterhorn. Our last night in Zermatt we will have a Bon Voyage goodbye dinner at a local restaurant. The trip will officially end in Zermatt on August 3..

Five Lakes Walk

The Five Lakes Walk (5-Seenweg) is a easy/moderate day hike in Zermatt that offers extraordinary views of the Matterhorn mountain (you know, the one on the Toblerone chocolate bars). The trail takes hikers through some of the most beautiful scenery Switzerland has to offer. It passes by 5 gorgeous mountain lakes namely: Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee, and Leisee. Three of the lakes even have reflections of the Matterhorn and the majority of the trail offers unobstructed views of Switzerland’s most recognizable snow-capped peaks. This 6.9 mile hike hike is estimated to take 3.5 hours.
